Gordon D. Mansell Concert Organist

Toronto, Canada. Glionna Mansell Corporation announced today that Gordon Mansell, titular organist and music director at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Toronto (Casavant mechanical organ, Opus 2805), has once again been invited to perform in Europe. This coming summer Maestro Mansell will perform an organ concert in a prestigious European international organ festival on the Adriatic coast of Italy. This will be his fifth European tour since 2012, including three tours to the Republic of Poland where he performed in international festivals and gala evening concerts in ten Cathedrals and one museum church. Maestro Mansell has also performed in Italy with his choir at the Basilica churches of Holy Trinity (Florence), St. Ignatius Loyola (Rome), Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music (Vatican) and twice at St. Peter’s Basilica (Vatican).

The 2017 itinerary includes an August 18 gala performance closing the XI International Porto San Giorgio Organ Festival at the Cathedral of Porto San Giorgio, Italy. organ shown in picture below.

Maestro Mansell’s programme will feature the beautiful tone colours that reside in the cathedral organ and the magnificent acoustics of the space. The two-manual, 36 stop Francesco Zanin organ, Opus 368 installed in 1966 has symphonic voicing. This will be an ideal instrument for a programme that will include: Fantasie on the Chorale “Wie schön leuchtet der Morgenstern” by Canadian composer, Gilles LeClerc, Modal Suite by Flor Peeters, Four Images by Sir Nicholas Jackson, Prelude and Fugue No. 1, Opus 109 by Camille Saint-Saëns and the Fourth Sonata, Op. 61 by Alexandre Guilmant.
