An education outreach program to introduce young, musically oriented students to the organ and its varied solo and ensemble repertoire.

This pilot project is education based, initially targeted to high school students actively participating in music education in the Toronto public and Catholic boards. (Northern Secondary and Cardinal Carter Academy for the Arts)

It will present the organ as a musical instrument in a dynamic role within different performance situations, other than its normal church environment. This alternative environment will provide a new perspective on the instrument and its performers.

The goal of the program is to develop awareness of the instrument as a viable study option for future music school enrolment and to develop over time, a younger market for concert performances.

Students will:

• Hear the organ used in a dynamic music-making role
• Develop a new perspective on the instrument and its performers
• Play/sing in an ensemble with the organ
• Gain hands-on experience with the instrument
• Become more aware of the organ as a viable study option for future music school enrolment
